The Law isn’t just for the unconverted or the guy next to you in the pew. It’s for you, the Christian, too. But why? Why is the Law still preached to those who are in Christ. Isn’t the Gospel enough? The answer is simple: the old Adam hasn’t been reformed—he has to be drowned daily. And for that, you need the Law to expose the sin that still clings, so that you can be driven again and again to Jesus. Now, we’re not talking about rummaging around in your feelings. That is not maturity. Instead, mature Christians learn to use the Law rightly - as a mirror to see the truth. But keep in mind, they don’t examine themselves to condemn themselves, but to confess what is wrong—and let Christ deal with it. In this episode, we cover the topic of Self-Examination and Repentance.

EP 21 - Who Is God's Israel? (with Special Guest Rev. Harrison Goodman)
Thursday Nov 06, 2025
Thursday Nov 06, 2025
In this special episode, we step into the theological deep end and ask a bold question: Who is God’s Israel? Is the modern nation of Israel the fulfillment of God’s promises? Are Christians obligated to support the reinstatement of Old Testament sacrifices in Jerusalem? And how do we rightly understand God's ancient people - the Jewish people—especially in light of Romans 11?
Special Guest Bio:
Harrison Goodman serves as the Executive Director of Mission and Theology for Higher Things. He’s a husband, a father, a pastor, and an elder millennial for better but mostly for worse. He’s known online by literally 10s of people for talking too fast and spending the first half of his life on the secular side of Judaism. Fortunately, as college is often seen as a time of experimentation, he was baptized at the age of 19 through campus ministry. While it caused a rift at home, the Lutheran faith has been a comfort to him ever since.

EP 20 - The Theology We Sing! Discerning Good Christian Music
Monday Nov 03, 2025
Monday Nov 03, 2025
In this episode, we are diving into "The Theology We Sing! Discerning Good Christian Music." Not every song is created equal. Some proclaim Christ, others... well, not so much. And so, why do we sing, and how do we discern good Christian music from bad and shallow music? How do we analyze the true from the trendy? Does it matter what we put on our lips in worship? Ep 18 - What Can You Expect From Your Church?
Friday Sep 05, 2025
Friday Sep 05, 2025
In episode 18, we are tackling the topic of expectations! What can you expect from your church? In a world shaped by consumer preferences, it’s easy to treat the Church like another service provider—judging it by comfort, programs, or entertainment. Yet the Church’s true purpose is to deliver Christ through the preaching of the Word and the administration of the Sacraments. Pastors are called to shepherd, not entertain, and members are called to be sheep, not consumers. Though life together in the Church can be messy, Christ is present with forgiveness and grace, forming His people in faith, sending them into their vocations, and uniting them in true fellowship. At its heart, the Church exists not to mirror culture or sell experiences, but to give the crucified and risen Christ for the life of the world.

Thursday Mar 13, 2025
Thursday Mar 13, 2025
Original Air Date: March 13th of 2025
On today's episode of 3 Padres and a Shepherd we are talking about Liturgical Furniture and Holy Spaces. No, this is not an episode on interior design for the local church, but instead we are talking about the design of the church sanctuaries and the furniture used. While this may seem like an irrelevant subject, the design and layout of the sanctuary says something about a church's theology - what does your church's sanctuary teach you and what does it say about your church? So, stick around for this episode of 3 Padres and a Shepherd Podcast.
