Description:
On today's episode of "Three Padres & a Shepherd," we ask the question of what evangelism is and what it is not. Is evangelism standing on the corner of a street while yelling into a microphone; is evangelism traveling to Africa on a mission trip to dig a well; is evangelism following a scripted program that is presented to a neighbor as if you are trying to sell them a new set of Teflon cooking bowls; is evangelism canceling church and then having a congregation go out and rake leaves in a particular town? And what about the Great Commission from Matthew 28; where does that come into play? Stick around, and we will answer these questions and a lot more on today's episode, titled "Messing Up Evangelism? Taking a Closer Look at the Great Commission & Great Commandment"

Description:
What is Christianity primarily about? Is it about primarily being the hands and feet of Jesus or listening to Jesus? Is a successful church busy with all sorts of programs, ministries, and outreach endeavors, whereas a mediocre or failing church sits in the pew? In episode #4 of "3 Padres and a Shepherd," we will be taking a closer look into Jesus' interaction with two women: Mary and Martha. We will be asking the question, "Is It O.k. To Be A Pew Sitter?" Even though the story of Mary and Martha is a very simple story, it has vast application in the realm of the church and into the lives of Christians. And so, sit back with Mary and enjoy this 4th Episode!

Thy Strong Word — Proverbs 11:16-31: Like a Gold Ring in a Pig’s Snout
Thursday Apr 25, 2024
Thursday Apr 25, 2024
Original Air Date: April 24th of 2024
These proverbs contrast the gracious woman who gains honor with the ruthless man who gains only wealth, emphasizing that kindness, integrity, and righteousness lead to life and prosperity, while the pursuit of evil leads to destruction. This passage also highlights the importance of generosity, stating that those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. It warns against deceit and the hoarding of wealth, promoting instead a lifestyle of generosity and righteousness that ultimately benefits both the individual and the community.
The Rev. Dr. Matthew Richard, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Minot, ND, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study Proverbs 11:16-31.

Episode 3 - Is Your Salvation Certain?
Thursday Apr 11, 2024
Thursday Apr 11, 2024
Air Date: April 11th of 2024
Episode: 3
Details:
Where do we look for assurance? How do we know that we are saved? Tragically, many pulpits and theologies across America consistently preach the Christian and not the Christ. So, the problem that arises is that we can easily look internally at our actions as Christians for assurance. However, once we look inward, we will never have enough assurance, as the foundation of assurance shifts from Jesus to us. When we end up turning inward - focusing on our life, taking our spiritual temperature, assessing our accomplishments, and becoming fixated on navel-gazing, we become overtaken by what Martin Luther calls the Monster of Uncertainty. In episode #3, we will ask the question, "Is Your Salvation Certain?" with special attention to the age-old battle between imputed and infused righteousness. Access More Episodes:

Episode 2 - Is It Really Finished?
Thursday Mar 14, 2024
Thursday Mar 14, 2024
Air Date: March 14th of 2024 Episode 2 Details: On today's podcast, we ask the question, "Is it really finished?" It sure seems that in today's religious landscape, people are looking for new prophecies, trying to build utopic kingdoms, and continually offering up sacrificial works to validate the ego. Can we say that Christ is enough, that He finished everything, or must we search for the new thing God is supposedly doing; must we attempt to usher in God's kingdom through our own endeavors, or must we offer up our own versions of sacrifice to live with a peaceful conscience? Is it really finished in Jesus, or is God just getting started? To Watch Online

Concord Matters — Apology of the Augsburg Confession: Article 5 ~ Good Works #2
Thursday Mar 07, 2024
Thursday Mar 07, 2024
Original Air Date: February 17th of 2024
In Luke 7, the sinful woman was forgiven by faith and her works flowed by His grace. It is clear that we are unable to fulfill the Law and all fall short of His glory. Our disposition is completely broken and as we receive a clear conscience through forgiveness by the blood of Christ, works of love naturally spring up by the Holy Spirit’s help (Galatians 5:22-23). We are reminded that a good tree bears good fruit. For Christ’s sake, we are made a good tree, and our good God bears good fruit for the sake of love for others. “Awake, O sleeper, rise from death, And Christ shall give you light; So learn His love, its length and breadth, its fullness, depth, and height.” LSB #697, st. 1
